REAL Love Sunday "Let the Giving Begin!"

Well it is was an interesting Sunday.  As a family we have been looking forward to this day for a long time.  Talk about the Joy of Giving!  If you are not sure what I am talking about I encourage you to read the story.

You can go to it here: (The REAL Love Story)

When I presented the idea of an old fashion"pass the plate offering" everyone gave me a very confusing look. Then, when I said this was going to be an offering that would be given out to everyone they seemed even more confused!  After a few moments and much explaining, the concept began to sink in.  To me everyone's reaction was strong but mixed.  Some people were crying, some laughing, and some sat frozen (maybe they still didn't get it :) while others were overjoyed.

Whatever the case may be, I can't wait to hear the Stories that come from everyone as we get out and share the gifts of REAL Love.

I would love to hear what you thought about today's service.

Feel free to leave a comment or share your story of giving here.    (The REAL Love Story)

Talk to you soon,

Eric

Wow! We were one of the shocked ones and had no clue of what was about to take place in the service but we could feel the excitement and the "joy of giving" that the Lord had put on your hearts. What a great example to all of us of God's REAL LOVE for his people. . . and what better way to start off the year with REAL LOVE than for FAMILY CHRISTIAN CENTER to be united and in one accord with sharing our gifts. Joel and I are still praying and seeking God for the "appointed" person(s) to bless with the monies. What a year it is going to be as we share the Real Love of God. We know this was the heartbeat of our wonderful Pastor Eric who exemplified the Real Love of Jesus in everything he did. He taught his family well and we are proud to be a part of what God has in store for FCC 2009! (To be continued.....)

OMG This is awesome. A 2 year old church giving the body of believers $10,000 to be a blessing to others. This during a time when most companies and governments are looking for an economic bail out. GOD is going to show everyone that JESUS is still the answer to the individual, the companies, the nation and the world. This is the REAL/TRUE seed time and harvest demonstration to the church. Teaching the art and spirit of giving planting seeds into people's lives and praying for the harvest of SOULS. I was not there on Sunday; but I could sense as I listened on the internet, the excitement and anticipation of what is to come in the days and weeks ahead.

Hey,

I was sure surprised last Sunday when our church passed out BLESSINGS in the form of CASH.

I received a $50 bill and prayed over it when I got home. I asked the Lord who He wanted me to share the Love with and I felt like He was reminding me of Marilyn, my co-worker. She has been in a Situation with not only her Husband, who has Alzheimers, but her 90 year old mother lives with them too!

Each afternoon when I would see Marilyn, looking a little dishoveled, I knew the Work and Pain she had been through that morning...b/c of my situation with Buddy.

We both felt like we had already put in a FULL DAY, and day was only half over. Time to begin our second job....YMCA, Afterschool Program with Speaical Need Children.

She had mentioned that her children from New York were having to pay for Air Farefor her to come and visit them....I handed her the envelope and told her it was a GIFT FROM GOD!

She couldn't comprehend it! I told her how my church had blessed us with the Blessing and I Prayed and I was to give it to her.

She was So happy, she threw her arms around me with tears running down her cheeks and gave me a big hug!

Thank you Lord that I could share this Special Blessing with someone in need.

I have to say...I didn't see it coming. I had brought an out-of-town guest with me to church that day, and I specifically prayed that the Lord would bless her and her kids for coming with me. When Eric first started speaking about an "offering", I think I actually AUDIBLY groaned, thinking that the sermon was going to be about money, money, money. I had wanted a message that would touch my friend, and I knew that a "money" message would make her think that FCC was some stereotypical church that begged for money all the time. Boy, was I wrong. VERY wrong. When the church handed out $10,000 that day, all in the name of REAL LOVE, my jaw dropped, and I could hear my friend being moved to tears by this message of God's love and compassion. The best was seeing her kids' excitement as they were presented with the same challenge in children's church. Thank you, FCC, for being obedient and for giving us the chance to share this REAL LOVE with others! I can't wait to bless someone in need!

I must admit as did a previous member of the congration wrote above, I also gave an audible groan when Pastor Eric started talking about an offering. Much to my amazement I was deeply touched that the offering wasn't being taken it was being given. In my mind I started thinking about who I could give this money to, and as certain people flashed through my mind there were many that I could probably bless with it. I then stopped and said NO God this is your thing and I pray you guide me. The very next day; on the evening of January 5, 2009 I stopped at Macy's on my way home from work. As I was getting out of my car I was stunned to see a young man smack a young lady and knock her down on the ground. I stood there in shock watching this in disbelief. He noticed I was standing there and then helped her up off the ground but still yelling at her. I did not leave her alone I stood there and asked her if I could help. She walked over to attend to the baby in the stroller and proceeded to walk toward the sidewalk away from him. I walked with her and stood by as they continued to yell sweet nothings to each other for a few minutes. I then led her inside Macy's so as to get away from him and had a few minutes to comfort her to find out that they were not married, it was his baby, they were living together and it was not the first time he has treated her this way. I offered to help her and call the police or anyone else for help, but she did not want to call the police; she said she had a friend at the mall that she was trying to get up with. Instinctively I asked her if she had any money on her she said, "no". and then I remembered the $10 in the envelope. Of course she refused the money, but I insisted and told her I had to give this to her. I handed her the money with the card and was about to explain when she looked at me and started to cry, she asked me if I went to a christian church and I said yes. She told me that they both attend a christian church, and that he was raised in a christian home. I encouraged her that it would be beneficial for her to see a counselor at her church and that this was a situation that would not get better without help. She continued to cry I reached out to hug her and as she received my hug and concern I could sense that she was reassured in her heart that Jesus was with her through her circumstances and that HE LOVES HER; she knew she need to make some serious decisions. I assured her that I would be near by for awhile if she could not get up with her friend. Then she walked away towards the mall and I proceeded to go my way as I thought, I did not get her name and phone # to follow up with her. Then I remembered God's word that our Father God would not ever leave her or forsake her. I was there at the time I was supposed to be there; someone else in that circumstance may have just walked by. I believe that sometimes we are not always meant to enter someones life for a long period of time, but just a short encounter may be our only opportunity to share the love of God. I prayed for her and will continue to that God will be her everpresent help in time of trouble.

Well.. Ware do I begin? I actually, funny enough, was not their that particular Sunday. My mom and dad (Joe and Louise Garcia) explained the reason for the stimulus package. I thought to myself, wow how powerful! I prayed over my envelope before I opened it. I got $10.00 to bless someone with. Over the next few days I really wondered and prayed about how to bless someone with some financial help as well as with some spiritual help. My friend Eric at work has been in church his whole life until 2 years ago when his 10 year old brother was in a car accident, and did not make it. We always have God talk. He always tended to push me away. But this time he called me kind of panicking that his car ran out of gas on 441. I explained to him what was given to me a few days before. He really was touched because he knew that only God would look out for him days BEFORE he ran out of gas and he was facing a very tough financial situation as well, making it impossible to get out this situation. Until God showed up. He rededicated his life to God right their at the gas station. He also started going to church again and brought his mom and dad to their old church that they stopped going to after this catastrophe happened.

I am so blessed to be a part of this family. Notice I called it a family. I like the word family better than CHURCH. I love my friends at FCC. I wish it wasn't such a long drive to come hang out I would defiantly help more.
I wish Obama would come out with a stimulus jet pack so I could fly to every FCC meeting and prayer group. haha

I'm crazy. I know. lol... I love you guys. STAY ENCOURAGED!

We sat on the bed and opened our envelopes quietly, with much anticipation knowing this was a direct command of God, this distrbution of funds. Therefore much responsibility went along with what we did with it. Imediatly we thought we knew were it was to go, but after carfully listening to God , he had another plan. As soon as I realized what God wanted me to do I ran to get it done thinking I only had 20 minutes to spend there. As it turned out the entire family was home and we talked for about two hours. It was time spent encouraging them ,and letting them know God loves them and has not forgotten them. And that God can and will change thier circumstances if they will only trust him. Well P.S. they have come to church, and we believe that God is beginning to do a new thing in thier lives. Thankyou, to the Thomas's for always taking the time to listen to God and do what he say's.

We were praying to see who we would bless with our stimulus package. A few days later one of the ladies who attends our life group (Karen) called and wanted to put her stimulus with ours. We now went from $60 to $160. There was a young man who graduated from college last May and had not yet landed a job. He needed encouragement, prayers and money. We decided he was the one we needed to bless with it. After going to his home,I explained the Real Love Stimulus Package, blessed him with it and prayed for him to get a job. It wasn't too long after that he got his first post college job. Thanks for the opportunity to be a blessing to this young man.
