“I must pray and change things!” Judge Ilona Holmes rallied us to our feet as we celebrated with loud, heartfelt applause. Only the Judge could make us laugh and let down our hair—we will never again think about a pole in the same way! Plus, her teaching encouraged us to have a stronger commitment! She spoke to us about being strong, faithful, women of Impact—women who do not look back but always move forward with a clear sense of purpose. She gave us nuggets of truth, and precious guidance to help us to really love God and to be what God has called us to be. AND, how to handle haters along the way! Monday night the Judge christened us as Women of Impact!

Check out the link to the poem she read and the passage she taught from—you’ll enjoy coming back to this good soul food!

What did you learn about being God’s Woman of Impact, and how did you use your purple gift bag to Pass It On? I’m interested to hear the nuggets and guidance you gained from our time with the Judge. Please feel free to comment below!

We are only 3 days into this 21 days of Prayer and Fasting and the first thing I have to say is Wow! There is an excitement and anticipation that is very hard to explain as we have started this time of fasting, prayer and seeking God. I think for me the thing that is so different about this "fast" is that I have gone into it with a very clear purpose in mind. I took some time to write down the things that I am believing God for over the next 21 days and this year.

If you are looking for direction or just want answers from God about his will and direction for you and your family, I would encourage you to spend some time and write out what you are believing for. Then each day after you read the devotions and scriptures, go to God in prayer about what you are seeking him for.

I know He is going to do awesome things in the lives of families! I can't wait to hear about.

I am super excited about the revamping of our IGNITE Youth ministry. As Leah transitions into the running of our Kingdom Kids children’s ministry, Eric & I have been presented with the awesome opportunity to focus on the youth of Family Christian Center.

As a teen, I can remember what a BIG part my church’s youth group played in encouraging and strengthening my daily walk with the Lord. I can still vividly remember my zany youth pastor, “Brother Eddie,” doing everything he could to not only get, but also keep our attention on the things of God. He did everything from riding a motorcycle into the youth room to driving a bus with no hands (don’t even ask!). While I am sure we will be experiencing all kinds of creative outlets in the new youth services, I can promise you I will never drive a bus full of your kids with no hands! What I can promise you is that your teen will come away with a fresh understanding of who God is and how much He cares and loves for each one of us.

The focus of these monthly services will be a simple one…to get our youth on FIRE for God so they will spread His LOVE throughout their schools and communities. As a way to help prepare both you and your teen for these services, I want to share with you what our vision is for the teens of Family Christian Center. Through much time and prayer, God has laid upon our hearts this simple, yet powerful vision. This vision will be shared and rehearsed with your teens starting the first week of our services.

While each service will be unique and inviting, we will focus on presenting intimate worship, fast-paced, practical application of the Word, and fellowship with other teens.

As April 5th is fast approaching, please keep our teens and these services in prayer. If you are a teen, please pray that when you come to IGNITE, you come with an open-heart and an open-mind to receive all God has for you during these special services devoted just to you!

If you have never made it out on a Tuesday night at 8:30 or a Wednesday at noon for Men’s prayer I would encourage you to try it. I guarantee you will leave feeling different then when you come in.
(Fred’s words). It meant that the building was only getting 2/3 of the power it should. Our faithful setup crew waited for instructions. “What should we do?” they asked, and I instructed them just keep setting up in the dark and “we will figure something out”. Our first idea was to pull a large generator we have access to around back to hook up what we needed. Wouldn’t you know it, they were resurfacing the parking lot around back and it was completely blocked off to traffic. When it rains it pours! Our next option was to simply find power in the building that worked and run some extension cords we commandeered from Fred’s van to the places we needed it in the main theater and the kid’s theater. Fred and I ran around upstairs with flashlight and voltage meter in hand, until we found just enough outlets that worked. We went downstairs, fired everything up, and breathed a sight of relief.
Ok, we are going to have church. With no air condition it was going to be hot. But hey, it could be July and 96 degrees outside!
By the time the service started there was an FPL crew outside working on the problem. Things were going good, everything was working just fine, and we might even get the air back on if FPL could come through. Wishful thinking:)
If you were there you know that’s not what happened. About 20 minutes into service, and the last round of praise and worship, the power went out completely. But in a rather slow low voltage kind of fashion that does some real bad things to digital sound and lighting systems. All kinds of weird sounds came out of the speakers and lights where stuck on for a couple of minutes until it went almost completely black.
Scott assured everyone that things were going to be just fine. Oh sure, it looked like “business as usual” from where I was standing!
But, as Cheryl and Daniel finished the praise and worship set with just the guitar and voices, there was feeling of unity that came over everyone. A feeling that said, “We are going to get through this; we are going to have church.”
I was figuring it was going to stay dark for the rest of the service. So when I went up to speak I just never changed my shirt or put my dress shoes back on because they were killing my feet from all the running around earlier. You can only imagine my surprise when the power came back on mid sermon and I was standing there in a t-shirt and Crocks for my shoes. It didn’t help that some of the stage lights were stuck on at full level! Well, we still had church and you can hear right where we picked up on the audio if you Click Here. I hope we can keep the power on this Sunday, and if not that is ok because Scott is going to be speaking. Just Kidding.

Have a Blessed Week!
we cheered for power and success—just what Walmart wanted instilled in
my mind.

the end of service today, snatches of this song came back to me as I
looked out at your faces. The Real Giving Stimulus Package had been
placed in your hands. I stood up to watch you, saying to myself, “I’ve
got to see their faces! Scott even did impressions of me at lunch about
how excited I was to watch your response. The look of shock and awe was
a powerful visual. Realization of what God was doing was shinning on
your faces and I said to myself, “God, You’ve really rocked them!”

love that look of awe and victory. I believe you left our church today

words “…waving our banners all over the place!” Our church

When I presented the idea of an old fashion"pass the plate offering" everyone gave me a very confusing look. Then, when I said this was going to be an offering that would be given out to everyone they seemed even more confused! After a few moments and much explaining, the concept began to sink in. To me everyone's reaction was strong but mixed. Some people were crying, some laughing, and some sat frozen (maybe they still didn't get it :) while others were overjoyed.

Whatever the case may be, I can't wait to hear the Stories that come from everyone as we get out and share the gifts of REAL Love.

I would love to hear what you thought about today's service.

Feel free to leave a comment or share your story of giving here. (The REAL Love Story)

This keeps ringing in my ears, so I wanted to share it with you on our new website. I trust our Father to bring it to pass! I believe God has ordained it for your family and mine and for our church. Isn't God good?

Also, God keeps reminding me that we are not exempt from the work that is required, as all this will be accomplished through the power of God working in each one of us. Yet, I am reminded that as we labor and pray in faith we will experience the fulfillment of God's promises and plans. I must also tell you that it will not be small--God has big plans. He is our great and mighty God, and 2009 is our year of BIG FAITH.

On a more personal note:
We (Shyrl, Evan, Eric, Angie, Abbey Sue, Sugarbear and Miley) enjoyed Grandma Marie and Grandpa Bruce in the woods of the Florida panhandle this past week. Scott and Leah flew to Virginia for a ski trip with Leah's family, and also drove to Washington, D.C. to take in the national sights. Scott returned with a new found passion for snow skiing, and Leah tells us she will try again the next time she gets near snow—pretty good for a Florida native who has never skied before!

Grandmother feed us well with good country cooking; in fact Evan became adept at mentioning something he wanted to eat and then we would see Grandma at the stove putting together another tasty dish. For a while there, I thought we might need to run all the way back home to work off all those goodies the two of then cooked up.

Grandpa loves land and so we were able to roam the 164 acres of his homestead in northern Florida. We fished in his lake and caught our dinner. A new calf was born the second day and was a beautiful sight with his cream color and white star on his forehead. Grandpa’s observation of the new calf was, “His daddy left his mark on him”, and one could see the big black daddy bull’s large white patch on his forehead.

Our puppy dogs really enjoyed running and playing over the land as we harvested the last of the pecans the strong winter winds had blown down. It was fun to be outside a lot even in 40 degree cold! (That's cold for us Florida natives!)

Whether rain or cold, Eric, Angie and Evan covered the land on ATVs and enjoyed good target practice in the back forty. Between the eating, fishing, motor biking and shooting, it was nice to visit and catch up on all we miss because we don’t get to see my parents often enough. Evan was quick to thank me for making that long trek, and he added that we should go there at least once every year and maybe even more if he could talk me into making that long drive.

Even though it was nice to enjoy the country, we looked forward to coming together with our church family to kickoff this Fine Year of 2009 and to enjoy God’s Word and our church family. Surely, the Word of God, brings strength, peace and blessings as it runs swiftly through us. We have kept the Real Love Campaign close to our hearts over the past two months, and now we are very excited to see God’s plan set in motion for Family Christian Center and the harvest to come!

I think the following scripture says it best for Family Christian Center; may it edify and encourage you for your family, too.

Psalm 147:13-15 NIV
13 For he strengthens the bars of your gates
and blesses your people within you.
14 He grants peace to your borders
and satisfies you with the finest of wheat.
15 He sends his command to the earth;
his word runs swiftly.

I encourage you to take time to rest in God and enjoy your family as you begin this new year of adventure. I am looking forward to hearing from you, but until then please know that ya’ll are in our thoughts and prayers!

All my love,
